The new HTC FOCUS is standalone VR heaset that promises to push forward immersive solutions.
I consider it to be a truly valuable piece of hardware because:
-It is fully untethered and uses standalone tracking to achieve 6 degrees of freedom
-It is an HTC product, result of years of experience of one of the big brands in VR
-VIVE Focus users have access to VIVE Wave, HTC’s open content platform. This platform integrates the content that is already present on the HTC VIVEPORT platform.
-Hardware features include a removable leather face cushion and a microSD card slot to have the possibility to access up to 2 TB additional storage.
Also, a newer version with two hand controllers, the HTC VIVE FOCUS Plus will take things even further.
The controller come with Chirp SonicTrackâ„¢ 6DoF ultrasonic + IMU fusion tracking to provide a full experience and interactions that were only possible for tethered equipment before.
These features will define how these devices can be massively deployed and compete in the markets growing around the world. We will have to be looking closely to see where all these new hardware take us...
